Chief Executive Officer

About the role

The founding Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be responsible for the day to day management of the Mine Land Rehabilitation Authority, building a small team to deliver on its critical mandate.

Key initial challenges will include developing the monitoring and evaluation framework for the authority in consultation with stakeholders, and establishing the organisational processes, including appropriate Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) with government organisations regulating mine rehabilitation.

Effective engagement with a wide range of stakeholders and community groups, as well as building productive working relationships with key government departments to aid strategic planning for rehabilitation will be essential.

The role requires a proven organisational leader who has relevant experience in mine rehabilitation and closure planning or a closely related field with good technical awareness across different rehabilitation discipline areas.

Highly developed stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills, strong communication and listening skills, the ability to navigate complex governmental relationships, a collaborative working style, sound judgement, effective decision-making and a demonstrated ability to achieve results through others are essential.

Key personal attributes include openness, integrity, impartiality, collegiality and reliability.
